‘Dust to Dust’

Sometimes art takes over from gardening, and this has been the case for the last few weeks.  I’ve been making a piece for Winchester Cathedral, for part of the 10 Days Winchester Arts Festival.  It was big – and scary – because I didn’t know whether it was going to ‘work’ until it was up in the space.  Thankfully, it was OK.  Making it involved learning how to do screen printing again, which I did in an old agricultural shed with a leaky roof.  Spiders and debris descended from above!

Here are a couple of images and you will find an article I wrote about this piece, here, together with a poem, written for it by Alwyn Marriage. Do read it if you’d like to know more.

I’ll write about gardening again, soon!

  1. Really like these. What fabric did you print onto?

    1. Thanks, Heather. The fabric is silk organza.
